Overview

The Purple Cabomba Cabomba pulcherrima (also known as Red Cabomba), is an attractive aquatic plant that has a dense growth pattern and is fast growing. Rarer than the green variety Cabomba, it is popular among freshwater aquarium hobbyists as well as pond keepers and water gardeners. With tall branches containing feathery needle-like leaves that end in purple blushes of color on its tips, it is sure to add interest to your freshwater aquarium or pond. A good choice for beginners, it provides plenty of surface area for egg attachment, and hiding places for your fish and fry.

Performing important tasks like oxygenating the water, it can help keep algae under control and maintain nutrient levels in the pond or aquarium. A background plant growing to a height as tall as 3’, recommended water parameters are temperatures in the range of 72° to 82° F, a pH of 6.5 to 7.5, and KH 3-8. Medium lighting is required.

Able to thrive in a variety of water conditions, it propagates through cuttings. Cuttings removed from mature healthy plants can be replanted to help manage growth and to propagate new plants.
