Captive-bred Blue Girdled Angelfish have a unique advantage over wild-harvested species. They are hardier and more accustomed to conditions found in home aquariums. As such they make a great choice for novices and seasoned aquarists alike.

The Captive-Bred Blue Girdled Angelfish, also called the Majestic Angelfish, is a beautiful fish with a striking coloration. As an adult, the Blue Girdled Angelfish sports an eye-catching yellow coloration ornately decorated with navy-blue spots and a namesake "girdle" or band. A brilliant neon blue border traces the margins of the girdle to dramatic effect. As with some other members of Pomacanthus Family, the coloration of juveniles differs markedly from adults.

While somewhat shy in nature, the Blue Girdled Angelfish is one of the easier angelfishes to keep. The Blue Girdled Angelfish should be housed in an established aquarium at least 180 gallons in size with a generous amount of live rock carefully aquascaped to provide ample shelter (bolt holes) as well as large open spaces to swim. The Blue Girdled Angelfish should be housed in a Fish-Only or FOWLR (Fish-Only-With-Live-Rock) aquarium as it is prone to nip at stony and soft corals (sessile invertebrates) and clam mantles but may be kept (with caution) with small polyp stony corals and somewhat noxious soft corals.

The diet of the Blue Girdled Angelfish should include vegetable matter such as Spirulina and marine algae, meaty fare such as mysis shrimp, and high-quality angelfish preparations containing sponges. The captive-bred Blue Girdled Angelfish is hardier than its wild-caught counterparts and readily take to prepared marine food diets since it was raised on prepared foods.
