Overview
Society Garlic, otherwise known as Silver Lace, makes a great addition to any container or water garden. Long, narrow, sword-like leaves cluster at the base to create dense cover, providing a dramatic contrast against umbels of 8-20 pinkish-violet trumpet flowers towering above on narrow stalks.
This easy-to-care-for perennial is best known for its distinct garlic smell, while its pleasantly fragrant flowers are sure to attract butterflies galore. Flowers bloom sporadically from early summer to late fall.
For the most blossoms, plant in sunny areas with only limited shade. They enjoy well-drained, sandy soil, but are known to thrive in wet conditions as well. It is an ideal plant for container gardens, pond margins, floating planters, or for landscaping. Propagate in early spring by dividing rhizomes or clumps of established plants. Zones 7-11.
