Overview
The Synodontis Eupterus Catfish is also known as the Featherfin Squeaker and is from the rivers and lakes of Africa. It is a wide-bodied catfish and is pale in coloration with many black spots.
As a digger, the Synodontis Eupterus Catfish will appreciate a fine sandy bottom with large roots and crevices for hiding places in a tank of 50 gallons or more. Sensitive to nitrates, good water conditions are necessary. It prefers a current in the aquarium. It can be kept as a schooling fish or in a tank with other Synodontis species. The Synodontis Eupterus Catfish may also be maintained with most African Cichlids of similar size.
Currently, the Synodontis Eupterus Catfish is not being successfully bred in the aquarium.
Synodontis Catfish are omnivores and should be offered sinking catfish pellets, freeze-dried bloodworms and tubifex, plus a good quality flake food.

These catfish are great. I have two presently in a 29 gallon tank and they have grown over 6 inches in length. They have huge fins and are a treat to own. They can live up to 25 plus years and are very hardy. As adults they are brown with black spots on them.

I have five of these beautiful cats in a 30 gal. tank right at the moment. Three of them are at least five inches and the other two are on their way to getting that big. I love the fish and the color change form a juv to adult is very fun to watch. I am going to transplant them into a 55 gal tank when cycle is done. Can't go wrong with them.

I bought three for my 55 gallon african cichlid tank. They were fairly small maybe 1- 1/2 inch. not two months later they are getting to almost four inches. Healthy eaters. Might need a larger tank!

I got one a decent bit back and they are a joy to have.
I bought mine at around 3 inches or so. It is now around five or six and it was so much fun to watch it grow and grow out of it's shyness, I bought another as well as 3 upside downs.
They generally leave everything along.

These are awesome fish. Very amusing and full of personality. I love to watch them swim upside down when I feed them, skimming the surface and hogging the food. Then they go down to the bottom and root around with their "whiskers" for dropped food. Hilarious when they accidentally get a piece of gravel in their mouth and spit it out! They have attractive coloration, and the feathering on the fin is very pretty. I highly recommend the Syno African Featherfin Cat!
