Overview

The Red Fire Guppy, also known as the Millions Fish or simply Fancy Guppy, is one of the many unique variety of Poecilia reticulata guppy developed through years of careful selective breeding. The Red Fire Guppy, as its name implies, boasts a prominent intense red coloration. This fiery red guppy is one of the preferred color varieties among beginning hobbyists and breeders alike. The Red Fire Guppy stands out as it swims amongst aquatic plants injecting unexpected color and activity to the freshwater planted aquarium.

The Red Fire Guppy requires an aquarium of at least 10 gallons in size. It is a very peaceful fish and should be housed with tankmates of similar temperament. Though the Red Fire Guppy is a hardy fish tolerant of small changes in water parameters, care should be taken to keep water temperature, pH, and nutrient levels in check. The Red Fire makes an excellent fish for beginning hobbyists as it is a hardy and energetic fish that is easy to keep in the freshwater community aquarium.

Guppies are relatively easy to breed even for the beginning aquarists. If you are interested in breeding guppies, the ideal aquarium should have a covering of floating plants and a breeding box to protect the fry. Adults may eat the fry if left to fend for themselves without the breeding box. The fry should be fed brine shrimp, micro food and pulverized flakes.

The Red Fire Guppy is an omnivore and requires both algae-based foods as well as meaty foods. An algae-based flake food, along with freeze-dried bloodworms, tubifex, and brine shrimp will provide guppies with the proper nutrition.

Customer Testimonials

Katie Johnson San Antonio , TX
A great fish for beginners and experts alike. I have had guppies for quite some time now and they are very enjoyable. Watching them interact, breed and then watching the fry grow up is a very worthwhile experience. Guppies are very hardy and can withstand most beginner's mistakes. This is not a fish you want to pass up.
