Overview

The Lemonpeel Angelfish is a cheery yellow with sky-blue highlights on the lips, encircling the eyes, on the pectoral fins, and the tips of the dorsal, caudal, and anal fins. To avoid confusion with the False Lemonpeel Angelfish (C. heraldi) that lacks the blue highlights, this angelfish is also referred to as the True Lemonpeel Angelfish.

The Lemonpeel Angelfish requires a 70 gallon or larger aquarium with hiding places and large amounts of live rock to graze on the microalgae growth. It is very prone to nip at large-polyped stony corals and clam mantles. It is best not to keep Lemonpeel Angelfish with fish of the same genera.

The diet of the Lemonpeel Angelfish should include Spirulina, marine algae, high-quality angelfish preparations, mysis or frozen shrimp, and other meaty items. This angelfish requires more algae and seaweed in its diet than most angels.

Approximate Purchase Size: Small: 1" to 1-3/4"; Medium: 1-3/4" to 2-1/2"; Large: 2-1/2" to 4-1/2"

Very smart fish. Originally, he was great at controlling algae. However, we added an elegance coral, and he started nipping at it. So, off to the fish-only tank with him.

This fish is the most beautiful fish I have ever seen. It even has a personality! I just LOVE this fish! If I could take it out of the tank and cuddle it like a cat, I would!
Matt R Hammond , WI
This angel is very vivid and guests always pick this one as their favorite. One problem with this guy, is that he is constantly nipping at the snails in the tank (not sure if he's confused or what). He is a bit of a picky eater too, refusing to eat algae that we clip and the regular frozen food as well. We figure he must be surviving off the algae in the tank!
Peter M Howell , NJ
A very hardy species that is very active. Is not afraid of larger fish. Very pretty color of deep yellow. Grows to a good size for a Dwarf Angel.
Yong V Charlotte , NC
This angel that I received was bigger than what I expected and beautiful yellow color with outline blue. Also very active when I put it in my tank.
Tony R Minneapolis , MN
Awesome fish, as soon as I put him in the tank he started grazing on my live rock. People always pick him as their favorite fish and loves to come up to the front of the tank to check people out. Highly recommend this fish.
Dan N East Lansing , MI
This guy is awesome, it is like he is on crack. When I got him in the mail his was bouncing off the walls of the bag and when I put him in the tank it was no different, just constantly doing laps around the tank like his is Michael Phelps. He eats EVERYTHING, don't need to do anything special. Flakes, pellets, clams, whatever. He is always playfully nudging other fish to try and get them to chase them, but they all just kind of stare at him like he is that wife that got too drunk at the office Christmas Party. Awesome fish.
Becky J Oshkosh , WI
I love my lemonpeel Angelfish. It is a adult now and is even more beautiful than ever. He is a little shy but does come out and show off to me. :). I have to be honest is my baby when it comes to my fish. :P
Darren C Glendale , AZ
What a stunning fish. This lemonpeel arrived in great healthy shape and took right to the tank and immediately started nipping at the algae. It is very peaceful and easy to take care. This fish is just awesome to watch swim around and would be a great addition to any tank.
Charles D Columbia , SC
Beautiful fish, vibrant yellow with electric blue accents, very energetic, and a great addition to my tank. An absolute eye catcher.
Bruce B Woods Cross , UT
Very pretty fish, but who would ever know?? I ordered this to get some yellow in the tank and didn't want a yellow tang to fight with my purple tang. Sadly, this fish never comes out of hiding in the rocks, not even at feeding time. I feel it was a poor choice, having only seen it on rare occasion at whih it quickly hides again :(
Reid L Beckley , WV
This fish adds a big splash of color to any FOWLR or Reef tank. Its very energetic and very easy to feed. Eats flakes and frozen food in a flash. Just watch out for newly placed coral. Mine nipped every coral in the tank but didn't do any lasting damage and now leaves all alone. A great fish!
