Overview

The Humu Picasso Triggerfish, also known as the Humuhumu Triggerfish or Picasso Triggerfish, has a wacky, painted appearance. It has a tan body with gradient dark bands, and vibrant blue and black stripes on the top of the head, with a yellow stripe from cheek to cheek and deeply set-back eyes.

A 180 gallon or larger aquarium with rocks and caves provides a good habitat. It will rearrange the landscaping and rocks as it wanders in and out of the caves. It vocalizes using a "grunting" sound. The Humu Picasso Triggerfish makes a great conversation piece.

The Humu Picasso Triggerfish needs a varied diet of meaty foods including; squid, krill, clams, small fish and hard shelled shrimp to help wear down their ever growing teeth.

I love this fish. Triggers have a reputation for being aggressive but this fish seems about as docile as they get, my angelfish are far more aggressive. They are very smart as well(for fish) he's learned that certain containers contain food and swims eagerly to the front and top of the tank when he sees them.

These guys are so cute. I have a little two inch one, and day and night he swims everywhere exploring every nook and cranny. It's so cute.

I have had a Humu Picasso triggerfish for about six months and he is my favorite. He swims freely and likes to rest on my rocks. He also seems to get along pretty well with the other fish.

A great fish! The Humu Picasso Triggerfish is very active and fun to watch. Have lots of live foods available because this fish eats like a horse!

I love the Humu Picasso Triggerfish. I have had one in my fish-only tank for quite awhile and he's full of personality. He lets me "rub his nose" and swims back and forth at top speed. A very hardy fish and easy to feed... loves everything from krill to flake foods to silversides.

This fish is amazing. He ate one of my two shrimp on the second day I had him. That was fun to watch. He adds a lot of action to the tank!

I currently have a small specimen (2 inches) in a 65-gallon tank, with about 25 pound of live rock, Scarlet and Blue Leg Hermits, various species of snails, and a Coral Banded Shrimp. The tank also has a Scooter Blenny and three Percula Clownfish with other various SPS/LPS Corals. The Trigger is the most docile of the bunch, although he does like to re-arrange the substrate. He refuses to eat any type of herbivorous diet - strictly brine shrimp (frozen/live) and Prime Reef frozen food. He likes to scoop up the sand and sift out tidbits.

The Humu Picasso Triggerfish is a wonderful addition to any fish-only tank! It is far less aggressive than other triggers I have kept. It lives peacefully with every fish I have put it in with including clowns! It feeds well on frozen krill, shrimp, flake, as well as brown seaweed and other frozen products. Great fish all around!!
David C Orlando , FL
My Humu is very friendly and has a lot of personality. He loves to swim to the top of the tank and be petted and gets along with all the other fish. He is a great addition!
Nick B Grafton , WI
I had one of these before my tank crashed and he was a great fish. He was great in my aggressive FOWLR but was a little sadistic. He would eat the eyes out of live goldfish (only fed on special occasions) and watch them swim around blindly until he ripped out the intestines. That was always interesting. He really loved eyeballs, even eating them out of frozen silver sides. Cool fish just be careful with your stocking list, he killed the small niger I had in with him (probably my fault, but in all fairness they were good friends until a couple weeks had passed). Oh well, I'm picking up another in a few weeks.

I've heard horror stories but so far my Humu is great. I have only lost one Astrea snail to his huge appetite. Gets along well with other tankmates and spends most of his time swimming back and forth. He feeds from my hand and even allows me to pet him. An immediate tank favorite with great personality. Don't be frightened if you find him lying on his side at night. Humu's sleep that way.
Zach P Surprise , AZ
My Humuhumu nukunuku apu'a (I love saying that) is absolutely great. Eats right out of my hand, even 5 mins after I added him! Absolutely beautiful colors and has a great personality. Doesnt bother anyone/anything.

This guy was my first order from this site. I ordered a medium Picasso Trigger and he arrived today. He was healthy and acclimated to my tank quick. Right now, he's the smallest in the tank but he swims around with confidence. He's in my 125 gallon with 2 yellow tangs, pinktail trigger, niger trigger, blue throat trigger, yellow stripe clownfish an a bird wrasse. The only issue was that the site said medium was 2-3 inches, he was between 1-1 1/2 inch. Besides his small size, he's a great addition.

I just received the medium Humu this morning. He couldn't wait to get out of the bag and jumped out into the tank 1/2 hour before full acclimation time. Before too long, he was swimming all around, ate well and even gave me a scare. He was so still laying in the hollow of a decoration that I thought he might be dead. He was just napping!! Had no idea that fish nap. I'm looking forward to fun moments with this one! .

Love this fish! He's active, bold with a cute personality. with his tankmates. Not fussy about food. Glad I bought him.
Jerry A Dallas , TX
Mine is adorable. He swims all day and likes to hide in the rocks when it's time to go to sleep. He sticks out that little antena on his dorsal fins to secure himself in the rocks. He eats everything and he loves to be petted. Very hardy .
